held Friday evening, March SO,
in the John A. Wilkinson school
; auditorium. Sponsors were the
Tri-Community Ruritan club
and the Belhaven Band Boos
ters club.
The Belhaven Band rendered
several numbers. The Band will
attend the Azalea festival in
Wilmington.
HYDE NATIVE, 78, DIES

Benjamin Allen Gibbs, 78, re
tired merchant, died Thursday
morning in a Raleigh hospital
after illness of six months.
He was a native of Hyde
County and lived in Elizabeth
I City most of his life.
I He was a son of Benjamin
Wilson and Mrs. Alice Burrus
Gibbs. He was a member of City
Road Methodist Church.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs.
Lucy Fulcher Gibbs, and a
daughter, Mrs. Bert White, both
of Elizabeth City; a son, B. L.
Gibbs of Hertford; five grand
children and two great-grand
children.
A funeral service was conduct
ed Friday at 4 p.m. in Twiford
Funeral (Home by the Rev. C.
G. Nickens of City Road Metho
dist Church. Burial was in New
Hollywood Cemetery.

grandchildren. Funeral services
were conducted Friday at 2 p.m.
at Pleasant Grove Church by the
Rev. Frank Wibral. Burial was
in the Balance Cemetery.
