Bonner 1 spoke of the great work and ■ the noble traditions that had been molded by the citizens of .the North Carolina coast tiuring I the nearly 100 years since the , crea'tion of the Life Saving Sdrvice. Congressman Bonner referred to his long friends hij)s over Jhe years and his affection for the people of the Coastland. The Congressman has been identi- I /led with inore projects for the progress of the area than any one now in public office, and . recently, through his efforts in I' Congress, a million dollars was contributed by the Federal Gov ernment towarii the cost of bridging Oregon Inlet. On his ■flight from Manteo to Hatteras Sunday, he was able to view this bridge, now well under con struction, as well as many har- ,bor, projects in Dare County, for 1 whic'h he' obtained Federal I funds.
