Her parents were Samuel M. and Mrs. Bettie Fulcher Rollinson. . Su'i-viving are two daughters, Mrs. Helen Phillips of Washing ton, N. C., and Mrs. Dorothy Kramer Branch- of Elizabeth City; a son, Han-y G. Ki-amer of Elizabeth City; tivo brothers, John W. Rollinson of St. Simon .Island, Ga., and Alonzo M. GEORGIANNA SPRUILL COLUMBIA —: ‘Funeral liser- vices for Mrs. Georpanna Spruill, 79, .. who diel in the Washington' County Hospital Saturtlay, August 27,' were held in the Chapel Hill Baptist Church here on Wednesday, August 31, at 2:30 p.m. conduct ed by the Rev. J. O. Rogers, Burial was in the church ceme tery. . . A native of Washington County, Mrs. Spruill was the daughter of the late George and Mrs. Sarah Wynne, and widow of Solomon J. Spruill. She has made her home here for more than 60 years. She was a mem ber of the Chapel Hill Church and its affiliate organizations; member in the Order of the Eastern Star and the Sons and Daughters of Zion. Suiwivors are six sons: James Welton and William Isiah both of Richmond, Va ; Johnson E. of Williamston; Elijah Thomas of Norfolk; HaiTell S. of An napolis, Md.; and Albert W. Spruill of Greensboro; three daughters: Mrs. Carrie S. Whi taker of Swan Quarter; Mrs. Von S. Jordan of Plymouth; Mrs. Eva S. Pope of Virginia; 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. MRS.' CLAUDE J. TOWNLEY ,lMrs.’ Netta Rockstead Town- ley, 7i; of 557 Dove Drive, Great Bridge, died iSatunlay in a Nor folk hospital. ;A -native of Vining, Minn., she was the wife of Claude J. Townley and lived here four years. IMr. and Mrs. Towmley lived for a number of yeais in Kill Devil Hills, where they operated a motor court. She was a member of Norfolk Unitarian Church. Besides her husband, she is sui-vived by two sons; Elvin L. Townley of Virginia, Minn., and Dr. Charles O. Towiley of Port Hui-on, iJIich.; and eight grand children. A funeral service was held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Twiford Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge. Burial was in Chesapeake Me morial Gardens. GUTHRIE FRANCIS Guthrie Francis, 70, of Gul- rock died Saturday night. He had been in ill health for several months. ■' He was the son of the late William T. and- Effie Pugh Francis. He was a- veteraji of World War I and was a mem ber of the Christian church. Surviving are two brothers, Adolph Francis of Giilrock and Rudolph Francis of Manteo. Graveside services were held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Pugh cemetery at Gulrock conducted by the Rev. MIDGETT Mrs. 'Mary Jane Twiforti Mid- gett, 88, native and lifelong resident of Manns Harbor, died Wednesday after a long illness. Funeral services will be conduct ed at the home in Manns Harbor by the Rev. W. L. Barbee, pastor of Mount Carmel Methodist Church, at two o’clock Friday afternoon. Burial will be in Mann's Cemetery, Manns Har bor. - Mrs. Midgett was- the widow of the late Joe Tom Midgett, and a daughter, of the late James and Mary Stowe Twiford. She is survived by one son, Cecil Midgett, of Manns Harbor; and six grandchildren. She was a member of Mount Carmel Church. , MRS. MABEL STILLMAN - Ml'S. Mabel Estelle .Vale Still man, 61, of' Chesapeake, Va,"., died Tuesday at 5:10 p.m. in her home after a sudden illness. A native of Roper, she lived in Chesapeake 14 years. She was the wife of Herbert R. Stillman. Besides her husband, surviv ing are two sons, Herbert Leroy Stillman of Virginia Beach, Air Force JI. Sgt. Robert living Stillman in Europe; two daugh* ters, Mrs. Leroy Davenport of Manteo, and Mrs. • Winton R. Ward of Virginia Beacl^; a,sis ter, Mrs. Della Knowl^ of Rop er; and nine grandchildren. Mourne With James P. Rines as new principal, Ocracoke School open ed oh'Thursday, August 25 with a regidar morning session in which the ■ children were regis tered and received their texts for the coming school year. Regular sessions started the next day. The enrollment was slightly above that of last year and. further enrollment is ex pected. ' Mr. Rines, comes to Ocracoke from the Mt. Mourne Elemen tary School of Mt. Mourne, where he has been the principal of the school for the past nine years. With him comes his wife, versatile and experienced teacher who will instruct in the iH’igh School and assist her hus band in many ways. Also at Ocracoke for his first time term is David Gaskill, a veteran teacher who will guide the fifth and sixth grades. Mrs. Gaskill is moving here with her husband from Washington, N. C. Returning teachei's are Mrs. Francis Saunders, beloved first and second grade teacher; and Mi-s. Senia P. Davis of Bath for her second term as third and fourth grade teacher; ami Mi.ss Mary Elizabeth. Williams of the local community for her second term in school and her first term as seventh and eighth grade teacher. The curriculum will be the same in all departments as last year. The children are especially enthusiastic about the continua tion of the athletic progi-am. The school committee consists of Jack Willis, Chairman; Mon- fonl Garrish and JIrs. B. E. Spencer.
