MAN ASSIGNED TO KANSAS ' -"BELHAVEN — The board of AKIerman agreed at its regular ‘ nieeting Monday to set up an ordinance to.establish a Good i^ 'Neiphbors Council. . •.The local human relations organizations asked for the ordinance after IR. S. Harrell of thsj' North Carolina Good - Nieighbors Council of Raleigh discu-ssed the importance of such a gp’oup. -Other board activities: Fire Chief Leon Smith re- ])ortcd five local alarms and five rural iilnrnis and the loss of one tobacco bara during July. Nino rescue calls were answered. Norwood Tetterton, Jr., re ported that permits is.sucd in July, included seven electrical, three plumbing, five building, ' and three location. Julian Goff announced the resignation of Leonard Tinker from the planning board. Goff said his term was c.xpiring and suggested the board think of S I'eplacement. A motion to re-appoint Goff was approved. Selection of a .successor for Tinlter was taken under advise ment. Bari Daniels, city manager, asked that' a policy be es- taljUshed whereby users could 'nrake payments monthly on w'ht^r and sewer taps. The mayor reported that grading for the north side park ■ site had been completed and that construction of some picnic equipment and pouring of con crete for tennis courts would begin this week. The board also approved a proposal to pay hospital insur ance premiums for full time tot-ft employees. A pctiiion asked establish ment of a public housing pro ject ‘ for Belhaven. Sergeant Sawyer, a iiavaga- tion systems technician, is as signed to a unit of the Mili tary Airlift Command. He previously served at Ka- dena AB, Okinawa. The sergeant is a graduate of Jolm A.
