BELHAVEN — Routine busi ness filled the agenda of the monthly meeting of the itwaid of aldermen. Police Chief Sam Boger re ported nine arrests including one juvenile taken into custody during October. ' He"' said the police car was driven 2,187 miles and consumed 244 gallons of gasoline. Seven doors in the business community were found unlocked during a routine check. Boger said seven dogs were destroyed during the month. Norwood Tetterton, building inspector, reported five building permits were issued during October. Fire Chief Leon Wliite, who retired Oct. 31, made his last report to the board. Ho said that during October Ihorc wore two local alarms. Thtwe were no rural alarms. The fire depart ment answered 11 rescue calls. The board approved Russell Johnston as the new fire chief, succeeding Smith.
