Not all the money in the First District could have aroused the enthusiastic, wholehearted effort of f.'iends who rallied t-i the Congressman. Mr. Bonner's vote would have been far greater than it was, had not so many of his friends felt he would win by a landslide, and it really wasn't necessary to go vote. But the first and strongest friends were those who wins until the votes are counted, greater the man. There is no doubt that Herbert Bonner is becoming a greater man, for on every hand, one hear3 that he has constantly grown in stature since his nomination to Congress j Herhert . Bonner deserves the more credit w"hen Hne realizes he na-. had the ad van - tage of a college education, yet he has developed aoility as a speaker, as a political figure, and as a capable, efficient, public servant. For the unanimimity with which the voters supaorttd lu:;i and snowed under Marvin Blount of Greenville is comparable with the manner in which his predecessor Lindsay Warren defeated hi3 op ponents IS years ago in the only contest he ever had. The mood and the temper of the district as a whole was to make no change in the Cur.gressman, and it was not improved by the plan" of campaign waged by Blount. Criti cism of the appcintment of Borrfier in 1940 only served to enrage the 14 members of the committee and their wide circle of friends in all counties of the district. And many other features of the managjment of the Blount campaign were ill advised and savored of lack of po litical experience and w:saom, a3 well as being against all rules of cominonsense. And so the voters, even in coun ties where most money was soent, and nvst work was dme against Bonner, stamped their complete disaonroval of the attempt to prejudice the voters against Bo.n 1 ner..
