THURSDAY, DECEMBER 4, 1952 SWAN QUARTER NEWS Mr. and Mrs. Claude Sawyer spent last week end with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Neal Campen, in Beau fort. Miss Alethia Blake who has been visiting her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Blake, in Parkersburg, W. Va., for several weeks, has returned home. Mr. Blake accompanied her home and was here for the week end. Mrs. Mattie Boomer who has been sick for several weeks is much improved. She will spend the winter in a nursing home in Washington. Mr. and Mrs. R. F. George of Denver, Col., spent last week at their camp here. Mrs. Marie Scott and Mrs. R. B. Burrus spent Tuesday with Mrs. Mattie Boomer in Washing ton. Mrs. Scott left Wednesday for her home in Riverdale, Md. Ralph Bray and John L. Brown of Raleigh were Thanksgiving visitors here. George Cason of Cheatham Annex, Williamsburg, Va., spent the week end with his sister, Miss Aleph Cason. Mrs. Corinne Stilley of Eliza beth City arived Thursday for a week end with her sister, Mrs. H. E. Griffin. Jack Lister and R. F. Smith of Mount Olive and John Buffalo of Tarboro were guests of Miss Pearle Sadler during the holi days. Miss Etta Beal Grant of Nor folk visited Mrs. Claude Grant last week. Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Murrow of Robersonville spent the week end here. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Williams were in Washington Wednesday. Mrs. B. W. Williams, Mrs. E. E. Crabtree and Mrs. W. H. Lang ston were sohppers in Washing ton Friday. Bill McKenzie of Jacksonville was a visitor here Thursday. Mr .and Mrs. Hallett Whitley and daughter Ann of Pantego were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ab ram Canon Thursday. Jesse Alvis has returned home after spending several weeks in Richmond, Va. Mrs. Hezzie Brown left Friday for a visit in Norfolk. Mrs. William Hayes and daughter Mary Lee of Freder icksburg, Va., were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Z. V. Hayes during Thanksgiving holidays, Rev. Jesse Parks ofv1 the Union Theological Seminary in Rich mond was the speaker at the youth rally in Swan Quarter Sat urday night. Mrs. George T. Davis and Miss Pearle Sadler were shoppers in Belhaven Tuesday. Mrs. W. G. Harris and Mrs. W. G. Spencer and daughter, Mar sha, spent the week end with Mrs. Mary Spencer in Wilming ton. Mrs. Harris wil return home Sunday. Mrs. Spencer and daughter will go on to Savannah, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Baum are visiting in Albany, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. Rhodes Lupton of Chapel Hill were here for the Thanksgiving holidays. Mrs. Mabel Carawan, Mrs. Dal Harris, Mrs. Leon Harris visited Mrs. Deppe Harris who is a pa tient at the Pungo Hospital m Belhaven. The occasion was her 73rd birthday. The traditional cake with its 73 candles was the center of attraction.
