As major site work continues to move ahead at an excellent pace, so have contribu tions and the level of the capited csunpaign. Harry Swimmer, Capi tal Campaign Chair, proudly announced that the number of pledges has passed the 700 mark, “and seems to be increasing faster each day as people can see that construction is actually under way." The $5.2 million still needs to increase to $5.6 million according to Swimmer, but he feels confident that, “our community will continue to show its support zmd do what is necessary to build everything we deserve to have.” As bulldozers and other earth moving equipment continue to cleeir the land and to shape the site for roads, play fields and the building location, the architects are rapidly completing the drawings necessary in order to obtain bids on the building. “They are working almost round the clock,” says Building Committee Chair, William Gorelick. “The results of their efforts are very encouraging. We are trying to share their ideas and plans with the many committee members who have been a part of the building process. We are all pleased with the flexible way in which the firm of Dellinger and Lee has responded to our recommenda tions and made re quested changes.” The schedule calls for the JCC outdoor facilities (tennis, athletic fields) to be completed in the fall of this year. The target date for completion of the entire facility is the late Spring of 1985. The offices of the Federation and the Foundation are ex pected to move to the Armstrong House on the property some time this Spring. “We want to be close to the work,” says Marvin Bienstock, Foun dation/Federation Director, “so we can both watch over the progress and msike it possible for the com munity to see what is being accomplished first hand - right from the windows of the Armstrong House.” Flash!!!
