Page 6-THE NEWS-September 1992 Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte We’re Going To Israel Community Mission — May 16-28,1993 To say a sheliechianu when arriving in Jerusalem, celebrat ing shabbat at the Kotel, visiting historic shrines, climbing Masa da, floating in the Dead Sea, a dinner cruise on the Kinneret, strolling the cafes and shops of Tel Aviv, visiting the Diaspora Museum and culminating with a gala celebration on Shavuoth at Kibbutz Gaash is merely a glimpse of the community mis sion being planned. Mission Chair Nicki Levine indicated that many are now considering the trip while the final details are being completed. Several people have expressed interest in Pre-Mission trips to Europe while others are deciding to stay in Israel through the Memorial Day Weekend. How ever, the key is to share emotions of being in Israel with friends and neighbors. If you would like more infor mation and to be a part of this mission, please call the Feder ation office, 366-5007. Bobbi Bernstein, chair, and Evelyn Berger, cochair, an nounced the formation of the Federation’s Community Servi ces Board. As defined by the Governance Plan for Shalom Park and the Jewish Federation, the Board is composed of 29 members representing the Tem ples, JCC, Jewish community organizations, Jewish Family Services and several other Fed eration committees; each organ ization is responsible to appoint its representative. The Mission of the Commu nity Services Board is to develop and coordinate community wide educational and cultural activ ities by creating a forum for community program planning. This will promote communica tion among all Jewish organiza tions and create Federation’s link to the entire Jewish com munity. With meetings tentatively set for the first Thursday of each month, communication is the key word in the committees’ plans. The forum will hopefully allow the community’s organ ization to come together to discuss what is and what is not happening. Coordinating, sup porting and encouraging each other is a way to help all reach their goals and offer the entire community what it needs to help it grow. Bobbi and Evelyn are optimis tic and encourage each organi zation to make this a high priority. Lany Horowitz, CLU, ChFC Hinrichs Financial Group 230 S.
