The Charlotte Jewish News - August 2009 - Page 5 1 in 7 drivers is uninsured. Are you covered if one hits you? DONT HOPE SO. KNOW SO. i I P2K Steering Committee Travels to Hadera Seven members of the Partnership 2000 (P2K) Steering committee from Charlotte trav eled to Hadera for seven days. Participating in this trip were Karen Busman, Roz Cooper, Nadine Gordon, Susan Jacobs, Hannah Kaunitz, Stan Leinwand, and Jewish Federation staff Sarah Kaplan. During this time, the group joined our Hadera counterparts for days of intense leadership training and community build ing sessions. The group focused on strengthening the relation ships between people in Hadera and Charlotte as well as between the two cities. Focus was placed on bridging the communities through people-to-people pro gramming. The committee worked hard to leam more about one another’s cultures, work styles, and personal back grounds, understanding the chal lenges and excitement that working with international peo ple brings. Throughout the course of the week, the group enjoyed the warmth of Israeli home hospitality, participated in workshops, and even made a brief trip to Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Programs organized through the Partnership include those with affinity groups, including such groups as police officers, teachers, teens, and women. In all of our programs, the Partnership focuses on creating long-lasting, meaningful rela tionships that create a “home away from home” in each of our communities. Participants in the P2K steering committee, includ ing those who participated in the trip to Israel this past June, can attest to the importance of these people in our lives and to the city of Hadera in our travel plans.
