The Charlotte Jewish News - January 2013 - Page 23 Series for the Advancement of Jewish Education: “SAJE” c© Jewish Family m ^ Services The Levine-Sklut Judaic Li brary and Resource Center is proud to announce a new series of workshops for Jewish educators. The Series for the Advancement of Jewish Education (also known as SAJE) is made possible by a generous grant from the Lenora Stein Fund for Community Cre ative Learning and the generous support of the Blumenthal Foun dation. SAJE evolved from the educators’ conference called Mini-CAJE. “This new format was created in response to feed back from our Jewish educators and directors. Our goal is to better meet the needs and requests of the various Jewish schools,” states Debby Block, program director of the Levine-Sklut Judaic Library. The series will include, but not be limited to, the following work shops: Sunday, January 6: Better Brain, Better Behavior Educators will be given an overview into how the brain ere- You Are Invited ... The Birthday “Peel” (Elephant) would like to invite you to cele brate your child’s/grandchild’s birthday with the library. Join the brand new Birthday Book Club and help the Levine-Sklut Judaic Library grow and grow. A dona tion of $20 (per year) will make your child part of this exciting new club. When you join the Birthday Book Club here is what will hap pen: * A children’s book will be pur chased for the library and a “happy birthday” book plate will be added with your child’s name. The new book will become a beloved addition of the children’s library collection. * The birthday child will re ceive a personalized birthday card in the mail with a birthday sticker. * We will add your child’s name to our new birthday Ele phant display in the library. With that understanding in place, strategies will be discussed to use in the classroom to foster learning and better brain development in a child. The discussion will be full of practical strategies that teach ers can use the next day in the classroom. Taught by Dr. Victoria Naumann — Brain Balance of Charlotte. Time: 1:30-2:30 PM. Sunday, February 3: Make It Jewish: Classroom Management with a Jewish Twist “A Jewish classroom is more than just Alef and Bet.” Learn how to create an environment that enhances positive behavior and positive Jewish values. Taught by renowned Jewish educator, Malka Me-Zahav. Time: 1:30 -2:30 PM. Wednesday, February 6: Better Brain Behavior for Early Child hood Educators, Dr. Victoria Nau mann of Brain Balance. Sunday, March 3: To be An nounced Wednesday, March 13: Story telling for Early Childhood Edu cators This workshop will be pre sented by Debby Block at the Jewish Preschool on Sardis.
