Donations to the campaign allow members of the Jewish community to receive the help they need when they need it, and the skills to help themselves mov ing forward. Thank you to the families who have already made their donations and pledges to this year’s campaign. JFS volunteers will continue to make calls throughout the campaign to ask for your support and answer any questions you may have. * Your gift provides counseling to a family who is grieving the loss of their wife and mother, even when they don’t have insur ance. * Your gift helps the single mother who was just diagnosed with cancer receive benefits and financial assistance from DSS, United Family Services and So cial Security. * Your support ensures that every homebound Jewish senior remains connected to the Jewish community. * Your donation gives free help to the newly unemployed couple to set up a budget and fill out food stamp applications. If you have not yet made your pledge, please email beth.cupp@ jfscharlotte.org, call 704-364- 6594 or go online to www.jf- scharlotte.org. Payments are not due until December 31 and are 100% tax-deductible. ^ JFS Receives Grants from BJH Foundation for Sen ior Services and the Jerome Madans Fund Contact Beth Cupp at 704-944- 6849 or beth.cupp@jfscharlotte. org to discuss ways you can in clude JFS in your estate planning and ensure we will be a viable source of community support for future generations facing new challenges. ^ JFS is honored to be awarded a $12,000 grant to help fund the second year of our Family Con nections Geriatric Care Manage ment program, which provides support, education, guidance, and service coordination to dispersed and local family members to en sure that proper support services are in place to help keep their older adult relatives as independ ent as possible. Additionally, JFS, together with Temple Beth El and Temple Israel, was awarded a second grant to fund a feasibility study to determine the demand and need for Jewish senior housing. With additional support from the Jew ish Federation, JFS and the two Temples have formed a small task force of qualified Jewish profes sionals in the senior living field, to spearhead this project. A dedi cated facility for Jewish seniors has been a hot topic in the Char lotte community for numerous years and this grant will allow us to take the first, and absolutely vital step, to commence this com munity needs feasibility study. Like the mission and values of the BJH Foundation, it is the goal of the these two programs to pro vide dignity and maintain the in dependence of senior adults through services that address the physical, mental, and emotional challenges of aging, thus enhanc ing the lives of Jewish seniors in Charlotte. ^ Love and Logic Parenting Classes Begin in October - Registration Open Are you raising the captain of the debate team?
