THE PIEDMONITOR November 1, 1951. Page 2. interested in finding what effect ‘‘refreshments” would have at ^igh altitudes. - It s quite a sight watching Sam PARNELL “unravel” out of his new Crosley. = BIG BEAR HUNT - On the 25th of October, early in the morning, and properly attired, Zeke SAUNDERS, Gray BOOTH, Bill McGEE, Gordon BROWN and Hugh DEADWYLER, departed to the wilds of Snow- Bird Mountain, in North Carolina, near Tennessee, to enjoy a few days of bear hunting. They returned weary, but happy, the evening of October 27 with a 200 pounds of bear, shot by Mr. Deadwyler. One bear got by Zeke and McGee, but ’tis just as well because 400 pounds of bear would probably have been too much the 200 jpounds proved to be quite a load to carry for some six or eight miles through the woods, and it’s just possible that if you say bear to Gordon Brown you’ll hear how it feels to carry one! - COMMUNICATIONS CHATTER - W. D. Rollick The TV I.Q. among INT radio maintenance personnel has jumped to a still higher level, judging by the representation at a recent TV Clinic sponsored by local parts distributors. One item of interest was brought to everyone’s attention by the Chief Engineer of Greensboro’s WFMY = TV Station. It was the trouble which they encountered after increasing their power from an effective radiated power of 1600 watts to 16,720 watts. Poor pictures, ghosts , etc., were re ported by many viewers who had been receiving good pictures prior to the power increase. Many TV Stations around the country are increasing their power, and if you should happen to experience poor pictures as a result of the power increase, try re-orientating your antenna to provide less pick-up or reduce the gain of your antenna system by using an indoor antenna or one of the simple dipole type. This information is, of course, intended for those who have in stalled their own antennas or desire to save the cost of a service call by the expedient of a simple adjustment. CREDIT UNION GROWTH - The PAI Credit Union started its first month of existence in January of 1950 with a total cash on hand of $208.19, representing 61 members, and with outstanding loans in the amount of $625.00. As of September 31, 1951, total cash on hand stood at approximately $7,000.00, re presenting 283 members, and total amount of loans stood at $13,707.49. Total amount of interest earned to date on loans is $929.95. Your Credit Union has grown rapidly and steadily. It was established for your convenience in regular savings and establishment of credit should you ever find it necessary to borrow money for any emergency. You are urged to take advan tage of your Credit Union for these purposes. - NEW PAI ADVERTISING Be sure to tune in on PAI’s new TV program every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. over WBTV (CLT).
