Both McGee and Nutt began working at Piedmont in 1947, the year before the airline began service. They are the 10th and 11th employees to receive 40-year pins from the Company which was founded in 1940 in Winston-Salem as an aircraft sales and service operation. TRI employees celebrated a total of 290 years of service with Piedmont. Itom Davis, Piedmont’s founder and retired chairman of the board, talks with Isabel John son (right), administrative coordinator-pilots, INT, who has 25 years with the Company, and her daughter Lynn. 6 Captain Jack Miner and his wife Renie ad mire the blue, red, and white quilt presented to him by his family in June when he retired after 30 years with the Company. The quilt, which depicts msiny highlights in Miner’s ca reer including a United States map with the routes he flew while a pilot, was on display at the reception. The quilt was handcrafted by Miner’s wife, their three sons and three daughters-in-law. One son, Mark, works in aircraft routing, INT, and a daughter-in-law, Tteri Miner, is an agent at DCARO. Miner joined Piedmont in 1957 at ORF as a line boy. In 1961, he began flying for the air line, becoming a captain in 1966 and a jet captain in 1975. Of the nine aircraft Pied mont has operated since beginning service in 1948, Miner has flown all but the 767-200. “I’ve really enjoyed my years with Pied mont,” Miner s£iid. “It’s been a barrel of fun.” V I Piedmonitor • October 1987
