THE GAL.\X NEWS AUGUST 20, 1952 PAGE 7 HIGHLANDS THE BEST OF THE SUMMER VACATION PLACES Highlands is the best all a- round summer resort in many ways. We have here first of all the ideal climate, a climate that will stand the test, when heat waves hit the whole Uc S., you still have a comfortable climate in the High lands area for perfect rest and sleep. Highlands has not been overin dustrialized like some of the neigh boring resort places in VJestern North Carolina. We do not have the mills that bring offensive odors, and crowded conditions. Highlands is well located geo graphically for Southeastern area, for easy accessibility for the deep southern area, and neighboring states to North Carolina. Highlands is growing fast now. This has been well demonstrated here this summer by the large num ber of visitors from far and near, I have contacted some as far west as California, and many have come here from the far wet for vacation periods. V/ith a wide awake Town Board and_ Mayor, who recently purchased the old school TDroperty for the Town office and Chamber of Commerce. I think this is a great step for the advancement of the community for the home folks as well as the summer visitors. Under the direction of Rev.R. B. DuPree and Mrs. DuPree, and the leadership of Sid Carter, President the Chamber of Commerce is doing a fine job. With a magnificent new school plant, a hospital, and all other facilities to make a complete community. And I should say also a very nice new theatre building, which is modernly equipped, for the best entertainment in pictures. V/ith the best people as visitors as we are accustomed to having, and a community of peonle composed of the permanent residents that know how to give the best of service to keep this ideal summer area we call Highlands on the progressive side HIGHLANDS CLEANERS AND LAUNDkY PHONE 2330 HIGHLAj)IDS,N.
