Ainsley T, Carter, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and formerly of Highlands, died July 28th in a Cincinnati hospital after a long illness. Before coming to Highlands, lyb'. Car ter, who was a graduate of Cornell Univer sity, spent some time working in Spain in his field of electrical engineering. Af ter his retirement, Mr, Carter, with.his wife, came to Highlands in 1952, where they resided until last year. Those going on the to\ir MUST have advance reservations, obtain able by telephoning 526-2444 on Friday morning before noon, THE WHITESIDE CLIFFS With the opening in 1950 of a motor road to the top of l^hiteside Mountain (ii,930 feet), another of America*s great vastnesses was made accessible. Funeral services were held Manday morning in Cincinnati, FWD DRIVE OONflNms The 1967 Fund Drive for the High lands -Cashiers Hospital is well underway, and much appreciation is extended to the people who have already contributed. The goal this year is $60,000; pledges and donations in the amount of $8,000 have already been seciired. The recent expansion of the hospi tal to a 27-bed one, also capable of tak ing care of long-term patients, necessi tates the need for funds to sufficiently cover the operating expenses of the hos pital.
