Team Gets Off To Good Start
Br PHIL IIOK'HINS
Coach Jack McComas has come
up with probably his b^ team
stoce coming to Atlantic Christian
campus, but Tom Pritchard, as
sistant varsity coach and bead jun-
tor varsity mentor, also figures to
have ont- of the best JV squads
that AC has ever had.
The baby BulWogs downed the
stron* Chowan College varsity by
a 73-71 count in their opening game
un November 20. The Chowan game
lifted the lid on a 24-g8me sla^
fnr tl>e JV's who figure to be hard
to beat this season.
"Chuck" Hester, who also servw
as a varsity reserve, led the Jun
iors to thfir first win by canning
24 points. Along with Hester wi-re
Jack Aheron and Doug Gregg, who

ing his first game since reluming
from the army; Buddy Aldridge,
a husky forward who aided in the
initial victory with his scoring and
rebound work; Ken Fulgham. a
freshman from Rock Ridge; and
Hubert Edwards a valuable re
bound man and scorer also saw
a bit of action. Other boys on the
squad Mito failed to see action in
the first game are ^rry Lassiter.
Jimmy Williams, Billy Smith, and
Bill Keene.
Coach Pritcharxl opened with Jo«
Morris and Nick Lazzo at the guard
positions. Chuck Hester at center
and Hubert Edwards and Buddy
Aldridge at the forward slots. On
ly three other men. Jack Aheron,
Doug Gregg, and Ken Fulghura,
saw action.
The Junior varsity needs the sup.
port of the student body to have
a highly successful campnign. The
preliminary game gets underway
at 6:15. and if the Chowan game
was any indication of the brand of
ball that the student body will see,
it will be well worth going caily
to the gym. Get there in time for
the first game and support tlie
baby Bulldogs as well as you sup
ported the varsity in their opening
game.
