Ecusta Supports Music Festival.... Since its founding three years ago, Ecusta Aas given liberal support to the Brevard Music Festival, now looking forward to its greatest season in history, this tall. Various folks connected with our com panies have given freely of their time and energy in promotion of this fine activity; in addition, Mr. Harry H. Straus has been an enthusiastic supporter of the Festival since its beginning. Mr. Straus took a prominent part last year in the establishing of the Brevard Music Foundation. This new, non-profit organiza tion, of which Mr. Straus is a trustee, has acquired the Transylvania Music Camp property for the purpose of operating a permanent summer music school climaxed by the annual Brevard Music Festival. F. S. Best has also played a key role in the growth of the Festival, having served as membership chairman until this year. He is secretary-treasurer and a trustee of the Foun dation and is also treasurer ex-officio of the Festival. Bob Bolt succeeded Best this year in the important membership chairman post and he’s the man to see for your membership in the Festival. Walter K. Straus is chairman of the advertising committee and is doing an excellent job of printing literature about the Festival. Gus Tucker is chairman of the promotion committee which is assigned the job of widely publicizing the Festival. All three men are directors. R. T. "Doc” Caster- ton recently completed his term of office as a director. THE SOLOISTS MARY BOTHWELL. soprano, whose first appear 3nee as soloist was at the Salzburg Festival and whe ^>as since sung throughou'^ Europe and this continent ■vill be soloist August 14ri;, JOSEPH BATTISTA, brilliant young pianist, win ner of countless prizes in music and chosen as musical emissary of this country to Brazil, will play August 15 th. EILEEN FARRELL, so prano, known the country over as a star of the radio, "one of the real singing dis coveries of recent years”, will be soloist on August 20th. TOSSY SPIVAKOVSKY, violinist, has received tu multuous ovations across the country for "the finest violin playing of a genera tion” and will be presented August 21st. WILLIAM HESS, leading tenor of the Philadelphia Opera, the Ballet Society and the radio, particularly known for his l)eautiful ren dition of oratorio, will be featured August 22nd. m The beautiful entrance to the Transylvania Music Camp, scene of the Festival, is shown left. This drawing was made by Jack Morgan and appears on all literature publicizing the Festival, thus becoming an unofficial trade mark of the Festival. 5
