Ecusta’s WNC Bowlers finished the 1948-’49 season in a four-way tie for fifth place. Enka won the league’s championship and the Champion team of Canton captured the second place honors. The Reed and Abee team of Asheville took third place, and the Pisgah Motor Court team of Bre vard won fourth place honors. Ecusta tied with three Asheville teams—Allen Transfer, Army Store and the Standard Supply team, for the fifth place position in the league standings. The team members are as follows with each individual’s season average of pins per game listed with his name. Left to right: Captain Walter Straus 170; Bruce Reynolds 177; Joe La- vell 174; Buck Albert 162; Chris Rogers 170; Lewis Meece 174; and John Emory 167.
