This 400 acre tract, former ly an exclusive boy’s camp, has a five acre lake which is open from June through August for all water sports. The picnic area, gymnasium, tennis courts, ball fields and other sport and playground facilities are used almost all of the year. Beginning in June, members of the band gath er five days each week for the band school. Here the children receive expert instructions from mem bers of the Recreation Department. During the same period, a choral and recreation school is held three days of each week for girls of the commu nity. These tw’o schools are followed by the boy’s coaching school in July, which runs three days each week for a period of six weeks. Sports of all kinds are taught by members of the Athletic De partment. The outstanding event each year is the em ployee’s annual picnic, held on July 4th. Some 6000 persons attend these picnics to enjoy the fellowship and well-rounded program of sports and other events. At the head of the lake is the Memorial Plot, dedicated on May 30th, 1948 to the employees who lost their lives in World War II.
