FISHING AT CAMP HARRY H. BTRAUS Fishing at Camp Straus is open every day to all employees of Ecusta, their families and guests. The use of Camp Straus and its facilities is made pos sible by our company, and it is our company’s de sire that you and yours take advantage of the camp and enjoy it to the fullest extent. No organization would be successful without operating according to a set of rules, and as you know rules are kept to a minimum at Camp Straus. Therefore, we would like to call to your attention a few of these, especially the rules on bait fishing at Camp Straus. It is anticipated that we will have another good year of fishing. Preseason forecast indicates that there are a large number of bream in the lake, as well as a good number of bass. Fishing rules for this summer are the same as in the past. The lake opens for fishing on June 4th, and is allowed only with a permit issued by the Personnel Depart ment, but may be used by a member of the em ployees’ family. Each permit is limited to a catch of three bass and five bream or crappie. All users of fishing permits must register and turn in the permit at the Camp Office before fishing. They must report their catch and check out at the Camp Office before leaving the area. The hours for fishing are from 10:00 A. M. to 7:30 P. M. Boats are to be used only by the fishermen. We wish to point out that any type of artificial bait is permissible, and also any type of live bait Fred McCall, Jr., is shotvn with a 17 inch bass he caught recently in the lake at Camp Straus, The fish weighed 2 pounds and 6 ounces. Fred is the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. L. McCall. you might wish to use except GOLD FISH or BALTIMORE MINNOWS. The reason for the ban on gold fish or Baltimore minnow's is be cause these fish multiply so rapidly that should any of these types be released from a hook they would become a menace to our fishing at Camp Straus. These fish would soon rob our game fish of the natural foods in the lake. They would hin der the growth and increase in numbers of bream and crappie that are now there. Let’s all remember this when we go fishing at Camp Straus. The other rules we wish to call to your attention are the rules of safety, cleanliness and courtesy. Play safe and enjoy yourself. Don’t take unneces sary chances. Be clean and don’t leave a mess for someone else to clean up. Treat the facilities as you would your home. It’s yours to enjoy; take care of it.
