Ayers, Safety Reporter ON THE COVER Miss Barbara Talley, recent win ner of the title "Miss Brevard of 1953”, tries out the new three-hole practice golf course at Camp Straus. An ardent sports fan, she rarely misses a baseball, football or bas ketball game if there’s one in the vicinity. Barbara’s talented, too. She can sing, play the piano, give dramatic readings, and she dances with the Ecusta Square Dance Team. In addition to a beautiful trophy and a scholarship to Brenau Col lege, she received as a prize for winning first place in the "Miss Brevard Pageant” an expense-paid trip to Morehead City as Brevard’s entry in the "Miss North Carolina Pageant. Barbara is employed in the Plan ning Office' (Olin Cellophane Div.) She’s the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rhett Talley of Brevard. Mrs. Tal ley is employed in the Olin cello phane Sheeting Department. Little Frances Katherine Roberts, 14 months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. ("Buck”) Roberts, ap parently doesn’t know what to make of her situation. She’s sur rounded by “Goofy Balls”, souve nirs of the Annual Picnic’s Baby Parade. "Buck” is employed in Olin cellophane maintenance dept. Mrs. Roberts is in Endless Belt.
