DEPARTMENTAL NEWS ECUSTA PAPER DIVISION "A" SHIFT MACHINE ROOM By Richard Nicholson Here I go again, "squealing” on my friends. A regrettable but necessary evil I suppose. (Stick ing my neck out ain’t I?) Lawrence Guice and Bill Surrett are the recent vacationers from this herd. Congratulations are in order for Mr. and Mrs. William Surrett, who have become the recent, proud parents of a bouncing baby boy. Young Surrett will go by the same name as his dad, "Sweet William”. Sorry to report that Dick Barton and "Red” Fletcher, as of this writing, are still ailing. We hope that you both will make hasty recoveries and soon can return to work. Rumor has it that Sir Vince will shortly be back with us. That comes as welcome news to all of us. "Red” Hughey is reported to be planning to charge an admission or cover charge in the future to all those accompanying him to his mountain retreat. Apparently "Operation Rattlesnake Den” has been going somewhat in the financial hole for some time, judging from certain "authentic re ports”. The Right Honorable Jimmy L. Jones report edly is building a "dream house”. One might sup pose that such colossal efforts have been expend ed in order to provide himself and family with a comfortable home and also to have a section re served for the transacting of "official business”, such as the duties connected with the mayor’s office, etc. It is understood, in some circles, that Monsieur Jones plans to run for a third term as Cedar Mtn’s mayor. This "reporter” doesn’t know on what sort of platform he will campaign, but I should suppose that a wooden one would suffice. So much for the above-mentioned and should I survive the wrath of the "A” Shift "Vigilante Committtee”, I shall honor you with some sort of scribble again along about this time of the moon next month. The average American spent $10.30 for candy last year—a total expenditure for our collective sweettooth of $1,620,000,000. About 5,500 men, women and children visit the White House in Washington, D. C., each weekf day on provate or conducted tours. In our civilization man comes first, then the machine. Next, the ambulance.—Banking. Shown above is Wanda Gail Rice, 3 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Glen Rice. Wan da’s father is employed in the Machine Room. MACHINE ROOM By Charles Tinsley New reporter, no just a substitute for Jack Williams this month. We are very sorry to hear of the illness of your father. Jack, and hope by the time you are reading this, your father is well and that you have enjoyed your vacation. Jack is taking his vacation to be with his father in Vir ginia. Well, look at "Speedy” Davis, all smiles. It’s a new daughter, born July 31st and weighing six pounds and eleven ounces. Congratulations, "Speedy”. We have had quiet a few boys on vacation lately. Spencer Macfie says he stayed at home but did do quiet a bit of traveling, from the bed to the table and then out in the yard under the shade tree. McCrary is now out on his vacation but we think he is staying close to Hog Town checking up on his politics and good standing. Davis took his to be with his new baby but got surprised. Sorry Speedy, you were one week too early. Pete Warren, your father must be giving us some new clothes now. Ollie came in with a new pair of white trousers on. Jim Praytor and R. Teague were supposed to have a Ford and Plymouth race the other day but seems like someone called up the law and put a 18
