Road Work Set By Dramatists The Dramatics department, un der the direction of Mr. Sumner, is working on a group of plays which will be presented “on the road.” One of the plays, “Three is a Crowd,” was written by Betty Lou Harshaw, a former student at Asheville-Biltmore college. It is a romantic comedy dealing with the supernatural. Another play which is being considered for production is “Rock Dust,” by Mark Sumner, son of the dramatics instructor. The one- act drama is based on the building of the Waterville Dam and deals with mountain folk and their su- peistitions about “blasting holes where God didn’t intend them to be, and taking lightning out of the water.” It was presented at Chapel Hill several years ago by students of Lee Edwards high school, and has just been pub lished by a New York publisher. HE FURTHER added that care fully planned activities greatly enhance the value of an education and provide for us a medium whereby a wider knowledge and deeper appreciation of parliamen tary procedure is gained. Nickie goes on to suggest that the society be exclusive and that the requirements for membership be stiff enough to insure an or ganization of highest quality. Any student who enjoys writing, either for amusement or in preparation for a career, should find such a society to be a great value.
