These boys are Jerry Haas, Bo>b Sims, Roger Pearson, Jim Ingle, Paul Bl»ekl:urn, David Cudd, Jack Kim- bro, Ross Vv^ingo, Stanley Scruggs, and Tom Higgins. Although the Tornadoes have a raither unimpressi\’e record this year, they looked very good on leveral occasions. Bob Sims led the team in hitting with an average of .380. He was followed bv Eddie Dacus who bat ted .340 for the season. Ross Wingo batted .350 but he wasn’t at bat as many times as the other two lead ers. The team batting average for conference games was .258. Pre-season predictions had Bre vard ranked very highly in the conference but they couldn’t seem to click consistently and wound up the senson with a 4-10 record. Although Brevard took more first places than any other team, ;Uiey finished third with 39 points. Six records fell in the meet. The Brevard 'boys who set records are Don Livingstone. Mickey Beam, and the mile relay team consisting of Jerry Forbes, Maxwell Cox, Mike McClaugherty, and Mickey Beam. Don Livingstone, high point man for the meet with 10 points, set a new record for the mile in 4:54.6. Mickey Beam broke the old record for the 440 by running it in ;52.09. I The relay team set a record by running the mile in 3:38.3. For Brevard, Livingstone won the two mile event; Robinson took third in the javelin; Ingle won the broad jump; Beam took second and Ingle fourth in the 220; Beam was first and McClaugherty sec ond in the 440; McClaugherty won the 880; Livingstone took first plrce in the mile; Gibbs took third in the high hurdles; and Beam, Cox, Fonbeg, and McOlaugherty won the mile relay. Golf In a conference golf match with Asheville-Biltmore on April 29, Brevard won by a score of lOVz to 4V2.
