The Clarion January 27, 1988 Page 7 Peanut s pix Place your bets... by Juan Kincaid r Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, lopen your hearts and lend me your ears. Welcome to the wonderful world of Peanuts Pix and Predictions. For the next couple of months I will be feharing my knowledge with you on the sub ject of professional and college sports. ' I will be giving my expert opinions and sarcasm on various sports games ranging , from tennis to football to basketball. I will be giving my strong predictions on ithe teams that will and will not win. With imy predictions in your hand, you can’t go (wrong in Vegas. My first prediction of the new year is on ,-jSuper Bowl XXII. This classic match-up between the ■jDenver Broncos of the AFC and the jWashington Redskins of the NFC promises to be a great game for both the fan and gambler alike. Denver has played the better football of the two in these last few weeks while the Redskins have struggled in beating Chicago and Minnesota. Also, Denver, who has had home field advantage all through the playoffs, has had a relatively easy time with their opponents. Denver advanced to the Super Bowl with imper- sive wins over Houston and Cleveland in a heart-stopper. It’s a proven fact that Denver’s quarter back, John Elway, is having better success with the passing game compared to the strong-armed Doug Williams of Washington. But defense will prove to be the impact on this year’s Super Bowl. Two weeks ago Washington sacked Min nesota’s QB eight times in the NFC Cham pionship Game and have allowed only 27 points in two playoff games. These stats seem to have given a defensive edge to the Redskins. But hke always, where there’s a will there’s a way. An Elway. Elway will pull his team through by at least a touch down and walk off the field as this year’s Super Bowl champs. This is the way I see it, so go and put your money on me. I’m your best bet.
