Work Currently On Display At Sims Clemson Professors To Hold Art Workshops by James Woodley Clarion Asst. Editor Printmaker Sydney Cross and ceramic sculptor Michael Vatalaro are coming to Brevard College to hold workshops in the Simms Art Gallery on March 29, and their work will be on display in the main gallery through the month of March. Cross was awarded her Master of Fine Arts in the field of printmaking from Arizona State University, and her Bachelor of Fine Arts was awarded to her from Northern Arizona University. Vatalaro was awarded his Master of Fine Arts from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, and his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Akron. Vatalaro graduated Magna Cum Laude. Both are Associate Professors in the Visual Arts Department in the College of Architecture at Clemson University. Cross will be holding a workshop on March 29 at 12:30 p.m. Vatalero will hold a workshop the same day at 3:30 p.m. Both will be located in the Simms Art Building. All are welcome. Students Can Earn Project Inside- Out Hours Over Spring Break by Lorrin Wolf Clarion Asst. Editor Students who wish to earn Project Inside-Ojut hours over Spring Break must stop by the PIO House to gain approval on the type of volunteer activity from Fran Lynch or Sybil Dodson before Friday afternoon. “We can’t guarantee them the hours unless they come and talk to us first. We also need to work out some way of verifying and documenting how much they volunteered,” Dodson said. ■ Students planning to earn credit must fill out a short form after gaining approval. After break, a time card must be dropped off in the PIO House with a supervisor’s signature. Ventriloquist Barber Brings Act To Brevard College by James Holiday Clarion Staff Writer Jim Barber the ventriloquist does a muppet act called Seville. He visited Brevard College on Wednesday, Feb. 24, and livened up the campus with his unique brand of humor. fidibbt tieai PKilddfelpHia, arid grew up in South Dakota, near Mt. Rushmore. He went to college at UNC. He started to major in English, and then later switched to radio and TV production. His senior year, he produced a kids’ show. His act called “Seville” came from a dream he had. Later in his life, he performed a Jackson show for two years. After those two years he started acting on stage in comedy clubs. Then he also started doing shows for colleges. He also started acting on Comic Strip Live as a stand-up comedian. On this show he also did his act called “Seville.” His latest act was done at Caroline’s Comedy Club. Jim Barber is a person who has a talent that he decided to use to his benefit. A simple dream changed his life, and now he has become a very popular yghlflidijuiSt. Audubon String Quartet Reschedules Performance The Audubon String Quartet Performance scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 25 was canceled due to the snow storm. This Life and Culture event has been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 3 at 8 p.m. in Dunham Auditorium.
