Page 12 The Clarion \ Feb. 1, 2008 Fun Depot Trip Wrap-up by BJ Wanlund Contributor OnFriday, Januaiy 25th, 2008, about 11 students (most of them female) went to Asheville’s Fun Depot and had a FUN time! 1 hung out with my friends Jocie Ashworth, Sara Douglas, Sydney Douglas, and Molly Ringwald for most of the two hours that we were there. We did several activities together: the mini bowling, the indoor go-kart track, the miniature golf course, the bumper cars, and the batting cages. The mini-bowling is almost like a weird version of Skee-Ball for those of you who’ve done it. 1 had the low score of everyone else with a 70, so ITl definitely do that one again on a future trip! The indoor go-kart track is rather bumpy, but oh so fun! 1 had my friend Jocie Ashworth by BJ Wanlund Contributor 1 really like the 1 Just Fall In Love Again posthumous duet with Dusty Springfield (Aime and Dusty recorded this song about the same time; Aime’s version went to the top of the charts, while Dusty’s version got lost when her record company went belly-up). Also, it was really cool that Aime got permission from Dusty’s estate to use that version of the song, and was able to isolate her voice, because Dusty recorded it in a booth (which was lucky to say the least). Also, the Song for the Mira has seriously grown on me. 1 certainly wasn’t the biggest fan of Celtic Woman beforehand, but their voices are take pictures of me making a fool of myself on the go-kart track! The miniature golf course is very, VERY hard! F11 certainly have to play some more mini golf, because that course is hard enough to make either Fantasia Gardens at Walt Disney World or Mount Atlanticus in Myrtle Beach, SC look easy! Also, there’s a fuimy story regarding our mini-golf experience at Asheville’s Fun Depot: My friend Jocie was going to the desk to return the scorecard, and a little kid ran into her! She kept trying to say that she was sorry, but the poor kid didn’t understand Enghsh!! So on the way back 1 taught her the Spanish term for “Fm sorry”, which is “Lo siento”. The bumper cars are very, very weird. They are circular, and instead of having a really good and blend quite well. Also, their voices went perfectly with that song, and kudos to Anne and Dawn Langstroth for a job well done. For those not in the know. Dawn Langstroth is Anne’s daughter, and a darn good singer in her own right (and has a duet on this album as well). Ms. Langstroth also helped choose voices for particular songs. Now 1 would never have chosen somebody like Sarah Brightman to sing Snowbird with Aime, but again, what a perfect match! 1 also like Olivia Newton- John, but the choice of song was quite interesting to be sure, a song that I’d never really heard before (and another reason to dig the Now and Forever box out of cold ANNOUNCEMENTS Send your announcements to clarion@brevard.edu MERCHANDISE Got something to sell? Then, the Indigo Girls really bring something to the song A Little Good News, and 1 absolutely love this version of one of my favorite Aime songs ever! Most of these songs are so good, but there’s only one song 1 absolutely adore, and maybe F m a bit biased because I’ve been an Emmylou Harris fan for as long as 1 can remember, but 1 absolutely adore Another Pot O’ Tea! Anne said in an interview that this song deserved to be heard again, and she’s absolutely right! Again, 5 stars all the way, so pick this up on iTunes in the iTunes Plus DRM-free format, or on CD at Rockin’ Robin Records if it’s not still backordered!
