Oct. 30, 2009 I The Clarion — News A truly scary All Hallow's Eve festivity Page 3 by John Climerand Travis Wireback Conscientious Objectors Book burning - a term that most people identify with ignorance, radicalism, and witch hunts. However, tomorrow night, just up the road in Haywood County, The Amazing Grace Baptist Church will conduct a Halloween book burning; kindling will include bibles, other literature and music which Satan has popularized. The church plans to torch all non-King James (KJV) versions of the Bible. In addition to the Non-KJVbible burning, the church plans to burn works from ‘heretics’ such as Billy Graham, James Dobson, The Pope, Mother Theresa, and John Grisham (just to name a few.) The church will commence the evening’s festivities around 7 PM and will offer a fried chicken dinner to accompany the event. However, it is unclear whether or not the meal will be cooked on the towering inferno of heretical literature. After all, any good southerner knows you never substitute paper for charcoal. According to the church’s website, the attendees of the book burning will not only eradicate their personal stores of Satanic literature, but they also plan to torch ‘Satan’s’ music. Some of Lucifer’s favorite genres apparently include “country , rap, rock, pop, heavy metal, western, soft and easy, southern gospel , contemporary Christian , jazz, soul, oldies but goodies, etc.” We can only assume that by contemporary Christian music, the church members mean all music not originally composed in Aramaic. Unfortunately for attendees, Aramaic is a dead language. On the bright side however, “A true scholar is one who believes the Bible (KJV) whether he understands it or not,” according to their website. Obviously the whole tolerance thing must be one of those parts not necessary to be understood. As thriUing as this event may appear to be when compared to all the other Halloween festivities occurring tomorrow evening, it is, unfortunately, not open to the pubhc, and all those attendees who are uninvited will be considered trespassers.
