' by the large bull figh. i,.. litres exhibited on the v/all of his office. He said he has personally carried those pictures over three thousand miles. Harrison has studied for a year at the University of Madrid ac well as Jiaviiig done graduate work in Mexico City. Preceding his work in Spain, he taught at several colleges, Staunton Mili tary Academy, the University of Virginia, and Virginia Mili tary Academy. Harrison chose Wesleyan above a college m New Jersey. He said, “I like Wesleyan very much; it is a very good school.” Finding it hard to adjust to the slower pace of life again, I Harrison is pleased with the friendliness exhibited to him at Wesleyan and in Rocky Mount. French Instructor Peter Laughton, French in structor, carries out the policy of education influencing the cre ation of varied characters. Ma joring in history and French at Marlboro CoUege in England, his favorite pastime consists of music, operas, concerts, as well as reading. When asked what he thought of Wesleyan his re ply was, “I find Wesleyan de lightful.” In discussing his opinion of America he mentioned that the informal attitudes of Americans greatly impress him. An exam ple of tlie difference in English men and Americans is shown in the matter of speaking to an aquaintance; in London he would not attempt to call someone by their Christian name for at least two years, whereas in the States he is requested to caU persons by their Christian names after only a short introduction. Undecided about the length of his stay in the States, he spoke favorably of Rocky Mount, and stated that he enjoyed teaching.
