First of all Wesleyan Is set up similar to a railroad station time wise. You have Eastern Standard Time, Central Time, Mountain Time, Pacific Time and some kind of time peculiar to that region between Eastern Siberia and Alaska. Then it takes a day or two to get your Chinese Coolie License running here and there like a blind dog In a meat house trying to register. You go back and forth between the business office, dining room, television room, your own room, the dean’s office and a few other places thrown in for the hell of it. By this time, you have found where to begin regis tering. A knowledge of forging would be helpful In obtaining signatures as there are few others to give them to you. After all this I felt that the process was nearly com plete and Indeed It was. I had managed to register my car. So alas, I have elected to drop back and punt! Also, I feel that the ‘herd Instinct’ or a lack of Individualism is a fault found in too many of our students. This I would like to see cor rected, particularly in the upper classmen.” As chairman of the pre-regis tration committee, an experi mental program for freshmen, Dr. Elliott hopes to design a plan that will make the actual regis tration much smoother. Such a program will aid the student when registering for his courses, and thus help avoid placement in subjects beyond his capabilities. If successful, the program will eventually be utilized by the en tire student body. Dr. Elliott received his B.A. from Furman University, his M.A, from the University of North Carolina, and his Ph. D. from the University of Georgia, specializing in Alfred Lord Ten nyson. He has previously taught at Gardner-Webb Jr. College, Clemson University and Stetson College, He Is married and the father of two small children. * * • • • SHOP ROCKY MOMHT ... just a few words • By Melvin Dowdy • The confusing and baffling net work of paths which structure the maze fora rat Is his experiment al environment.
