SUPERVISOR ATTENDS I. M. C. CONFERENCE Sam Dale, Supervisor of the Greige Goods Department of Plant #1, attended the 22nd annual meeting and conference of The National Council of Industrial Management Clubs, Y.M.C.A., at Fort Wayne, Indiana, on May 3 and 4. In addition to hearing stimulating addresses by top management men and sharing experiences with delegates everywhere, Mr. Dale had the opportu nity to attend two club leadership de velopment group meetings. He chose "The Organization and Functions of Club Key Men, " led by Paul H. Brown of Parish Pressed Steel, Division of Dana Corporation of Reading, Pennsylvania; and "Developing Supervisory Managers Through Your Club's Program, " led by William S. Wilbraham, Lukens Steel Company of Coatesville, Pennsylvania. The most outstanding conference speakers were Anthony Oladko, vice- president of J. B. Williams Company, Glastonbury, Connecticut, who spoke on "Foremen as Managers andBusiness Men"; Cameron Ralston, a dynamic speaker before industrial and business organizations, who chose as his topic "The Battle for Men's Minds"; and the Reverend Ervin E. Petznik, pastor of the First United Brethren Church, Fort Wayne, who was Conference Chaplain. An interesting feature of the con ference program was a choice of visits through several large industries. Mr. Dale chose International Harvester, manufacturers of heavy duty motor trucks, andTokheim Corporation, man ufacturers of gasoline pumps. The High Point group was recogniz ed at the conference for having offered the most management courses in the United States. There are 190 clubs in the National Council. Guy E. Kinney, past president of the local Industrial Management Club was elected zone rep resentative for North and South Caro lina. He will work directly with the National Council in helping the clubs that are now organized and will help to organize new clubs. At present, there are three clubs in the Carolinas, at High Point, Charleston and Rock Hill. Other High Pointers attending the conference in Fort Wayne were Gilbert Ross of Sylvania Electric Products Company, who is present president of the local Industrial Management Club; Ernest Porterfield of Denny Roll and Panel Company; and Ernest Burleson of the High Point Y.M.C.A. ^ iff - 4 - Nancy Guyer, daughter of Madie Guyer of the Looping Department at Plant #1, made her first solo airplane flight on April 1, after eleven and one- half hours of dual instruction. She was the ninth girl to solo at Fraley Field and is now working toward a private license. Nancy is a senior at High Point Senior High School. * * * * Charlie Deviney was telling another fisherman about a wonderful dream he'd had; "I dreamed I was out at the city lake, alone in a boat with Marilyn Mon roe.
