Some of the changes are: IF YOU ARE A WORKING WOMAN, you may become entitled to social se curity payments after you reach age 62 instead of having to wait until you reach 65. If you choose to do this, however, the amount of your monthly benefit will be permanently reduced. IF YOU ARE THE WIFE OF A MAN WHO IS GETTING SOCIAL SECURITY RETIREMENT PAYMENTS, you may become entitled to a wife's insurance benefit after reaching age 62 instead of having to wait until you are 65. If you choose to take the payment before 65, the amount of the monthly benefit you receive as a wife will be permanently reduced. IF YOUR HUSBAND DIES, you may become entitled to social security pay ments as a widow when you reach age 62 instead of having to wait until you reach 65. Your benefits will not be re duced. IF YOU ARE THE MOTHER OF AN INSURED WORKER who dies leaving no widow, widower, or child who could get monthly social security payments, and if your son or daughter was furnishing at least half your support, you may be come entitled to social security pay ments at 62 instead of having to wait until you reach 65 and your benefits will not be reduced. Monthly payments in the above sit uations may begin for November 1956, payable in early December. These pay" ments are not automatic. Applications must be filed. However, applications filed as late as November 1957 may be retroactive to November 1956. Many women are asking about filing before reaching age 65. The Depart ment of Health, Education and Welfare has printed a new booklet entitled, "Be nefits For Women Under The 1956 Amendments To The Social Security Act", which explains very fully this new provision. It is free. If you desire a copy, write to the Social Security Ad ministration, Post Office Box 231, High Point, N. C. and it will be mailed to you. ^ ^ GoleyR. The Exhibition will be equivalent to a tour of the knitting machinery world—featuring displays of the newest and most exciting innovations the knit ting industry has accumulated during recent years.
