We wish you both many more happy years together. You should have seen launetia Hart- grove and bo^’ friend at the Get-A-Way Restaurant in Greensboro recently tangling with a dish of spaghetti. Mrs. W. A. Hussey, mother of Wil lard Hussey and Ossie Wright, was honored by her children with a surprise birthday dinner at her home, 701 Hines Street, December 14. The honoree was the recipient of man}' useful gifts. Mrs. Mae Rumsey and daughter, Arline, viJitcd Mae’s mother, Mrs. R. H. McDowell of Mayodan during Christmas vacation, Stella Hudspetli of the Overall Department wishes to thank even’onc for the donation she received during the illness of her son and father, and death of her brother. Rosa and Clyde Wilkerson spent Christmas Day in Cheraw with Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Pratt. Theresa Willoughby .spent an enjoy able Christmas rocking in her new rocking chair. The Christitias dinner and party was a great success and w'as enjoyed by everyone. Your new reporter, Hattie Bray spent a quiet Christmas at home with iier family. Sincerest sympathy to Lillie Saunders in the recent loss of her mother-in- law; to Lola Jones in the death of her uncle, aiid to Edith Shackelford in the death of her father-in-law. The reason Lloyd Hedgecock is going around with his chcst swelled out is Ijecause lie is the proud papa of a baby boy named Llovd Steven. Esther Books’ brother, Lonnie of F’ieldale, Va., visited her during the holidays. Pat Mavros Christmassed in Winston-Salem, H a s s i e Mitchell’s daughter, Lois Harrison and family, spent Christmas here, Liz/ie Saunders’ daughter, Helen Piefke of Bloomfield, N. J., visited her during Christmas, Mary Mitchell’s father, J. W. Smith, of Randleman, is sick. T. Draughon attended the Mer chants’ and Buyers’ Week Association at the N\’est X^irginia Hotel, Blueficid, \\'. Va., January 3-6. S/lc Albert Gross, Jr., now stationed at Brooklyn, N. Y., spent a Christmas leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert G. Gross, Route 3, E, H, McCall visited relatives and friends in Salisbury over the Christmas holidays. Christmas caroling is always fun — but Helen Steed says it’s much more fun at 4 o’clock in the morning! Mrs, H. T, Short and son, Carl, wish to take this opportunity to express their appreciation for the invitations to the Christmas party and dinner. For the first time in thirteen years, Helen Hughes stayed at home on Christmas and baked her own chicken. If you want to make Edith Duncan happy, just ask her what time it is! Why? 't’he beautiful new watch her husband gave her for Christmas, of course! Ruth and Johnny Lyerly, and daugh ter, Ruth Ann, went hunting the day after Christmas . . . (P, S. All they got was a cold.) Mr. and Mrs. N. B. Singleton, Mrs. Dale Yoak’s father and mother, from Somerset, Ky., spent an enjoyable Christmas here with Mr. and Mrs. Yoak, Mr. and Mrs. II. 1’. Short enjoyed ha\ing their sons home for the Christ mas holidays, II, 'I'. Short, Jr., and Carl Meredith, from the University of Georgia, Psst! Don’t tell anybody, but Ethel Erackett has a beautiful new electric stove in her kitchen!!! We are sorry to see Marie Hughes leave our office force. She is going home to New York, Her husband. Mr, Evan Hughes has terminated his employment with Radio Station WHPE. She left Tuesday, January 13th. They will reside at 1460 Park Chester Road, Bronx 62, New York. Dungaree Department By Azzlea Frith W'e wish to express our thanks to each of those who had a part in mak ing our Christmas party and play a success and to Mr. Kirchofer who made our nice present possible. We are glad to have Julia Burke and Helen Jones back with us after having been ill for some time. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Harriss had quite a .speckled Christmas — their children had chicken pox. Mamie Hilton played nurse to a sick daughter during the holidays. Sarah Saintsing had all of her chil dren home for Christmas with the exception of Mrs. J. D. Lewis. Lena Picirilla says she had some special holiday company — her son, Bobby, and sister, Mrs. Alma Weather ford of F’lorence, S. C., and “Bill" Gibson of Wilmington, Delaware. There are those who take the op[X)rtunity w'hen we are granted holi days to visit relatives and friends, as did these: Lena Hilton went to see her father, Mr. T. C. Cecil, who lives in Orange County, North Carolina. Evelyn Killam had Christmas dinner with her grandmother, Mrs, John Hackett, of Pleasant Garden, N. C, Nelia Albertson’s daughters, Evon Taylor and Ruby Yountz, nurses at Community General Hospital, Read ing. Pa., were home for the holidays. i Mary Linda, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman I luff. Six months old December 23, 1947. Maude Hedgecock visited her daugh ter, Mrs. Frances Calloway, in Wash ington, D. C. Ona Hayes’ brother, John and wife spent the holidays at home in Sophia. Elsie Barneycastle and daughter had Christmas dinner with Ethel Eliuni at her home on Centennial Avenue. Leona Caudill visited her father in North X\'ilkesboro. W'hile there she also attended the funeral of her aunt, Mrs. C. CJ. Ferguson. Ruth Ann Cox had dual holiday company — her brother Jack Dobbins, and her father-in-law, Mr. Atley Cox of Kansas, Alabama. Arthur Royals’ sister, Blanche, has returned to her nursing at Arlington P’arms after visiting her family on \Vest Green Street, Dorothy Collins and husband visited her sister, Mrs, R, C. Blanton, at her home in Fayetteville, N. C.
