DECEBABER 11, 1997 - WCC CAMPUS VOICE 9 Masquerade Ball provides fun, food for the needy By CORRIE WEAVER On October 31, 1997, from 8 p.m. until midnight, the SGA sponsored a Harvest Masquerade Ball. Admission to the event was 1 can of food and a WCC I.D. card. Thirty-two cans of food were donated to help 40 needy families during Thanksgiving and Christmas, according to Elbony Bennett who chaired the project. Students costumed as witches, Indians, Death, mimes, a blond Klingon, and others had refreshments and danced to music from Cooper Entertainment. According to Beth Jones, Student Activities Director, the purpose of the Masquerade Ball was to provide a way for students to meet new people and make new friends as well as help needy families. The winner for best male costume was college transfer student, Chris Daily, as a blond Klingon. For best female costume, the winner was Cheyenne Corbitt as the Texas Twister. Both winners received 40th anniversary WCC calculators.
