goal about four hundred thousand
dollars, to be raised as soon as pos
sible. The endowment thus raised
will he used to establish the finan
cial standing of the college and to
maintain or increase the support of
the teachers unless otherwise speci
fied by the donors.
The campaign committee is com
posed of members of the board of
trustees, of the alumni association,
the advisory committee and of the

President Binford presented sev
eral matters to the meeting "Upon
which he wanted advice, and, by the
use of diagrams, showed how that
in the past twenty years the college
had increased the income of the
college and raised the salary sched
ule. He also showed that during the
first eight years of the same period
the preparatory department had
been the larger part of the college,
then for the next eight years the two
had run about parrallel, while in
recent years the college department
has shown a marked tendency to
eliminate entirely the preparatory de
partment.
The business of the afternoon
session was concluded early in the
afternoon. The special committees
on campaign went into session im
mediately and for some time worked
on plans for action. Following this
the whole group, at least as many as
could stay, were entertained at tea
on the porch of Founders' Hall.
