jEhe&urttorWan 2 i NEWS LINE Concert Band seeks recruits The Guilford College Con cert Band needs members, ac cording to Eric Wachmann, Concert Band director. Tcople who play flute, clari net, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, L'umpct, \rombonc, horn, eu phonium, tuba, bass, or percus sion, are especially necdeu. . lie Concert Band at Guilford consists of highly motivated students who arc interested in maintaining or improving their musical skills, said Wachmann. The ensemble plays music from classical to jazz and is dedicated to several perfor mances throughout the year. The Concert Band has, in the past, also been invited to per form at select events around campus. There is a mandate to maintain a large ensemble at Guilford, and students arc needed to make it a reality. Members of the Concert Band arc also eligible for schol arships that allow study of the individual's particular instru ment. These scholarships arc re served for Concert Band mem bers only. Rehearsals arc Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. Ed L>owc, Tim Lindeman, and Eric Wachmann may be contacted for those interested. Women's rugby team meets The Women's Rugby team met Mon., Aug. 30. The prac tice schedule has been set for Sundays at 4:00 p.m., Wednes days at 3:00 p.m., and Fridays at 3:00 p.m. Scheduled games include a scrimmage with Eno River on Sun., Sept. 12 at 3:30, and a University of Tennessee tourna ment Nov. 6.
