NOVEMBER. 19^6 PAGE 10 H.ECU Serves Teachers Second year girls honored high school teachers at a tea this month as part of their entertainment unit, Mrs. Dean Whicker's first and second period home eco nomics girls wrote formal invitations to faculty mem bers inviting them to the teas that they were requir ed to give as a project in their entertainment course, TEACHERS ATTENDING Attending the . first period tea were Miss Idalia Oglesby, W. Q, Edwards, W, H. Westall, and Miss Edith Farmer, while Mrs, Howard Farmer, Mrs. L. T. Lassiter, and M, W, Weaver joined the second period girls for refreshments. CHECKERBOARD SANDW1CH5 Because teachers were in terested in the sandwiches served at the teas, the recipes are given below. Editor Assemble these supplies: 3 i'-inch slices of whole wheat bread 3 ^-inch slices of white bread ^ cup butter or margarine 1 tablespoon minced pimen to Steps in preparation; I. Trim crust off bread, keeping all slices the same size. 2, Cream butter until soft; mince pimento axad add to butter. 3, Spread two large “club” sandwiches with the mix ture, one with white in the middle and whole wheat on the outi6id&' The homes of tomorrow are in the hands of the youth of today and the other the re verse, h* Wrap in waxed paper and daBQ7 towel and chill for several hours. 5. Editor Girls StogeOonce Jfosic, laughter, and a general hilarious spirit raged in the school cafe teria as the FHA sponsored a sock hop earlier this month. Lasting from 7:30 till 10:30 P.M., the dance of fered the latest in bop and waltz music. Since the purpose of the d^nce was to build up the FHA treasury, twenty-five cents admission was charg ed to each of the 1$0 per sons attending, Audrey Finch served as social chairman for the event, ClassVlsitsHomGs Visits to Linstone homes provided this month a ba sis for a unit in interior decoration for Home Econom ics III, Mrs, Dean Whicker’$ third year home econ«nics girls visited two Linstone homes in Wilson that were open for public inspection, each student keeping in mind the interior deco rating course that would be required in the near future.
