DANCE SPONSORED F.H.A. PROJECT MOTHERS' HONORED ••Stairway to My Heart" was the theme of the Sweet heart Dance held in the Bailey Cafeteria by the FHA, The dance was closed to FHA’ers anr’ their dates, Cupids and hearts were the main motifs. The Chapter Mothers served refresh ments consisting of cheese stra«s, mints, chicken sal ad and pimento cheese sand wiches, nuts, and punch. QUEEN The climax of the evening same when the FHA'ers crowned Miss Betsy May :^iss FHA Sweetheart, She was presented a dozen long- stemmed red iroses, Betsy is president of the chap ter and a senior at Bailey High. On October 19, 196it the Bailey F. H, A, undertook as its major fund-raising project of the year to plan, prepare and seirve the Masonic -Banquet, Au tumn leaves, pumpkins and mums were used to carry out the Harvest theme. The raeal was ser^'^ed buffet style. It consisted of Bak ed Ham with Raisin Sauce , Corn, Butter Beans, Candid Yams, Buttered lolls, Cake, and Coffee. John Day, folk singer and entertainer for the i'feson- ic Banquet, climaxed the evening by dedicating his last selection to all the F. H, A, girls, + + + + F, H. A.»ERS ATTEND DISTRICT IV RALLY AT ENLOE Dn November 21, 196ii, 23 members of the Bailey F, H, A. attended the District IV Rally at Enloe High School in Raleigh. The theme of the rally was "Set Sail for the Future.” Lois Ray Ross, State Parliamentarian from Lil- lington presided over the meeting. Bailey was in the lime light during the afternoon session when Betsy May and ^ several other girls gave a brief resum^ in skit form of their day-by-day activities at the National Con vention in Chicago. We were all streatl-''- enlightened about the things that happened there, F. H. A.’ers from Bailey who attended were: Eetsy May, Anna Beth May, Sandra High, Betty Joyner , 'lary Sue Dameron, Louise Watson, Wilma Kay Vick, Martha .Ip.tson, Phyllis Patterson, Susan Brock, Jewal K, Chris- ■’£n^ Joyce Davis, Jenny Edwards, Geraldine Pitts, Nancy 3issr>tt :, Janice ilullikin, Louise Strickland, Vickie Jorobtt, Gloria Issutte, and Helen Murray, On Friday, March 12, the FHA members honored their mothers with the arjiual Mother and Daughter Ban quet, This event took place in the school cafe teria. The meal was cater ed by Parker’s Barbecue of Wilspn with dessert furn ished by mothers of the members, Follovring the meal, a wel* come.was extended by Betsy May tidth a response by her mother. Rose bushes, sym bolizing growing love, were presented to each of the Chapter Mothers as a token of our appreciation. Following this. Honorary membership was given to 0, L, Porter, our princ^^d., for his contributions to FHA this year. The.program was then giv en by several members of FHA. It was an explana tion of the FHA Creed, bringing out its meaning b;/- skits from various perts of tho United States, BARBARA FERRELL aTEMS BETTY CROCKER AWARD , Barbara Ferrell has been named Bailey's 19^5 Betty Crocker Homemaker of To morrow. She scored highest in a written- homemaking- •ex amination taken by senior girls December 1, and is now eligible for state and national honors, y
