3. ^ It would^be strange is there were no problems of occasional lying, cheating, willful disobedience, smoking, laziness, traance, and shirkinge During the past six years that I have been connected v/ith the Albemarle High School, I cannot recall haying more than two cases of fighting brought to my attention.. of these happened during the noon-hour and were of minor ixiiportance. The high school now has a total enrollment of'550 boys and girls and it is remarkable how this many students, coming from the various homes with many different types of en vironment, can associate together without more frietion and discordo +V,- ^ tielieve that our student body is very much av/are of the tnings that the administration and teachers are trying to do ^ , 9^ students are appreciative of v/hat is done for them. This fact is very evident by observing the reaction and cooperation on the part of students. I do not believe that our students respond when demands'or requests are made of them because they have fear in any way, but because their character and moral training have been such that they v/ant to cooperate, knov/ing that in doing so, they Tt^d of student morale v/hich they ^It seems to me that our teachers in the elementary, as well school, have been doing a good job in making obedience -to law and order attractive; in training pupils :to will, to^ do right; in leading them to choose the ^right Vvhen the opportunity is theirs to choose an opposite course^ Our teachers are^evidently teaching lessons of self-control, ■h for "the rights of others, of v/illing and cheerful obedience^to authority. They have been developing the moral strength in them to which they are entitled. an imusually good situation in the Albeaarle rxigh School and one that I am proud of.
