SLICK ROM/ii^TIC COIffiDY UNREELS IN BERl'IARD SHAW»S ’’I^iJOR BARBARA” Vifendy Hiller, Robert Morley and Rex Harrison share stellar honors in George Bernard Shaw’s wittiest and most bril liant comedy. Major Barbara, which will show at Highlands School Theatre on Y/ednesday and Thursday, August 20-21* Every bit of dialogue in ’'Major Barba ra" was v/ritten by Shaw himself. For the great Irish plai'wright insists upon pre paring and writing his ovm scenario on the theory that irao many people in the film industry interfere with the natural way of tolling a story. And Shaw, icon oclast that he is, insists upon telling a good story. In Major Barbara the story he tells concerns a multi-giillionaire who manu factures implements of war in the belief that to’’make war on war’* it is necessary to use all the strength of modern arma ments, Ho clashes with his daughter who is devoting all her energies to spreading the work of the Salvation Army. She is engaged to a scholarly gentleman who sees logic in the arguments presented by Undershaft, the munitions manufactur er. How the romance between the two people progresses after this turn of events leads to an exciting and suspense ful climax.
