THE TWIG 3 Alumnae Mrs. B. P. Parham (Katherine John son), 1914, and Caroline Biggers, 1915, have contributed to the Twio rund, making a total of $!)7.50. It has been suggested that some of the alumnae have not given anything to the Twio fund because they do not linow how much they are supposed to send, or to whom It la to be sent. There is no set sum. The Twio is sent to every member of the associa tion and for the 576 subscriptions we are to pay to the Twio ?300. Of the amount $97.50 la all that has been given. The twenty-five contributions have ranged from one to ten dollars. All that is not contributed must come from the treasury, In other words, we shall be using the reserve fund of the association for current expense—a dis astrous policy. The money may be sent either to Mary Lynch Johnson, Meredith College, or Minnie Gosney, 327 B. Edenton St. College i^ctus i • Emily Cheek spent the week-end at her home in Sanford. Every Mere dith girl has heard time and time again, “Meredith is judged by you.” Why not realize this and leave un said those things which taint the air and arc so unbecoming in any one to say, much less a Meredith maiden, who should be a "light” if she is con cerned in the least of the standard her alma mater holds aloft. When you forget your fountain pen and must retrace your weary foot steps all the way back to your room, hum “Smile the While.” When you have to go to gym and you wish you didn’t, just Imagine you’re a soldier brave marching toward the trenches and be sure to sing “Pack Up Your Troubles." Practice what you sing and forget what you would have said. Surely, the English language is large enough to express any kind of an emotion any one might experience in any lifetime. So, Meredith, let us, one and all, rebel against the slang used in the rush at the “mail- time hour.” Everybody Welcome ■ • Everybody Invited TO Capitol Theater I ICED DAINTIES at JV HITES ALL NOVELTIES Try Our Walnut Sundaes MEREDITH COLLEGE FOR YOUNG WOMEN Admits Only Those Who Have Had Four Years of Work In An Accredited High School FACILITIES EXCELLENT CHARGES MODERATE For Information or Catalogue, Wtite CHAS.
