Meet Your Town Staff (Continued from page 1) ..m The Reeds’ expressed desire is to give back to the community that is giving them so much. Erica presently serves as Secretary/Treasurer of PIKSCO, and the Reeds are volunteers for a local Christian youth (ages 7-20) hunting and fishing club called Cross Trail Outfitters. They also volunteer at the annual Carolina Redfish Elite Tournament in Morehead City. The family attends Glad Tidings Church where they serve as greeters. . In addition, Dillon is a helper in the Kid’s Church Sunday School Program. Erica was born and raised in McHenry, Illinois, and studied accounting and finance at DePaul University. During the first four years of living in Pine Knoll Shores, the Reeds worked from home for Automatic Data Processing (ADP), a human capital manage ment solutions compa ny. All the while. Erica thought that working at town hall would be her “dream job,” but never imagined that she would get the op portunity. When the position of Tax Collec tor was posted. Erica was excited to interview. Don’t look for that posi tion to be posted again anytime soon; Erica plans to stay forever. When not working or volunteering. Erica escorts her son to rehearsals at the Carteret Community Theater, where he is part of the children’s entourage. He is presently in rehearsals for “Alice in Wonderland.” Dillon was in first grade when the family moved here, and certainly the commu nity and his new school were an adjustment for him. Periodically, the Reeds do a reality check with Dillon, asking if he would like to go back to Chicago—the answer is always “Nope!” The Reed family is made complete with Hunter, a golden retriev er, and Sailor, a 9-month-old black lab/Chesapeake Bay retriever. The entire family enjoys doing anything outdoors together. With all that is going on in her life. Erica also sews—and designs very beautiful tote bags/purses with all the compartments and space a busy women needs. The colors, patterns and combinations are striking. This is not an advertisement, ladies. They are not for sale. Erica doesn’t want to commercialize her art and be subject to timelines and deadlines. These creations are presents and meant only to serve as gifts for members of her (extended) family. Welcome to town hall. Erica.
