Strader and fam ily were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Wilson on Friday. Pvt. Thomas Yeatts, of the Army, visited his mother over the weekend. J. E. Rogers and son, C. B., visited in Danville, Saturday. Gordon Clarke left Saturday for Pheifler College, where he will continue his studies. •' Pvt. Frank Adkins visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Adkins, ov'er the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Moir Martin announce tlie birth of a daughter, Judith Carol, on September 14th. Pvt. E. C. McBride, of the Army, was at home with his wife during the week end. Pvt. Howard Mills, of the Army, is spending a few days with his parents. E. F. Chilton, who has been a patient in Leaksville Hospital, has returned home- He is getting along nicely. Charles F. Newby, stationed at Baer Field, Ind., has recently been promot ed to the rank of corporal. ' John Talbott, of Fort Jackson, is •spending a lew days with his grand mother, Mrs. Ida Talbott. J. W. Morris and daughters, Mozelle and Naomi, spent last Saturday in Dan ville. Mrs. Sanford Bradford and Miss Mary Hurd spent two weeks in Asheville and Baltimore. Bill Clarke left this week to take up his new duties in the U. S. Army. Bill, , it will be recalled, was one of the two men to -submit the winning name, for this paper. Finishing Mill Warner Massey, napper room, has been drafted into the army. Mrs. Annie Mae Manuel, secretary in the superintendent’s office, was away on vacation last week. Mrs. Sally Carter, folding room, has moved from her home in Draper and is now housekeeping in Spray. .. > ^ 4 . > */ ^ Draper Service Men Honor Roll Sign Tliis splendid testimonial to the Draper boys who have joined Unele Sam’s armed forees was erected by Draper people with ihoncy raised by popular subscription. E. W. Mooney arid .Tohn R. McGavish were the men who originated and put across the idea. Glen Boyles, talented painter, designed and paint ed the board, which attractively caiTies out the red, white and blue motif. The board, as| yet unfinish ed, carries the names of 98 young men in the army, four in the ma rines and 58 in the navy, a total of ' 160 young men—70 percent of them volunteers. Draper has a right to be proud of this testimonial—one of the very few yet erected. Joe; “I don’t think that speaker put enough fire into his speech.” Jim: “My opinion is that he didn’t put enough of his speech into the fire.”
