Employes Enjoying
Short Rest
While a few employes are taking in
ventory, painting, and overhauling ma
chinery, the majority of our people are
taking a much needed rest. Due to
gasoline shortage trips to the beach and
mountains are out and very few are
not taking advantage of the short vaca
tion to get their Victory gardens, lawns
and homes in good shape.
Contrary to our announcement last
issue this is not a summer vacation,
merely the regular July 4th holiday
coupled with inventory and the neces
sity of repairing and overhauling ma
chinery that has been carrying heavier
loads than ever before.
Just the same, employes welcome it
and are using it to good advantage.

These cigarettes. Chesterfields, will be

Satan: What are you laughing at?
Junior Devil: I just locked a woman
in a room with a thousand hats and
no mirrors.
Towels For Royalty
Of interest to our employees, partic
ularly those in the Towel Mill, is in
formation from our New York corres
pondent as follows: “The Lustre
Towel has been sold, through one of
our large accounts, to the Duke and
Duchess of Windsor with their mono
gram. Also to Princess Martha of
Norway, with the Royal Crest mono-
grammed on same.” The Duke of
Windsor, it will be recalled, was for
merly King of England, forsaking his
throne in order to marry an American
woman.

The Mill Whistle staff, replacing Miss
Georgia Thomas, who was forced to

Mrs. Royster’s first contribution ap
peared in our last issue, and while she
is new to our staff she is, by no means,
a newcomer to Marshall Field & Co.,
having been with us for 19 years. Save
your ink and paper, you fellows in thh
service, for Evie is married and has a
small daughter.
