Several Organization
Changes Are Announced
Effective October 1
The following organization changes
effective October 1 have been announc
ed by Harold W. Whitcomb, divisional
vice-president of Marshall Field and
Company and assistant general manager
of Fieldcrest Mills:
Hugh T, Bundy, head of the Cost De
partment, has been appointed assistant
manager of the Blanket, Sheeting and
Finishing Mills, Bleachery and Central
Warehouse, succeeding John P. Powell,
who has resigned effective October 1
to accept a position as mill manager
with another textile concern. R. A. Har
ris, cost accountant for the Rayon and
Woolen Mill, will succeed Mr. Bundy as
head of the Cost Department.
G. C. Truslow, who has been respon
sible for many worthwhile mechanical
improvements in various types of man
ufacturing equipment throughout his
long service with the Company, has re-
ques!ed that he be relieved of admin
istrative duties in order to devote his
entire time to mechanical developments
so as to complete them before his retire
ment date.
Effective October 1, therefore, Mr.
Truslow will relinquish his duties as su
perintendent of the Finishing Mill and
Bleachery and will be succeeded by
Frank T. Suttenfield, at present assist
ant superintendent of these two mills.
Mr. Truslow was one of the first mill
superintendents in the South to adopt
the multiple system of weaving and
large-package spinning. Through his
years with the Company he has been
successful in perfecting a number of in
ventions and improvements to machin
ery. He said that much of the success
of his improvements was due to the
loyal support and full cooperation of
supervisors and employees throughout
the mills.
He was one of the first to advocate
4-bank condensers on wool cards which
would increase the number of ends de
livered from 60 to 96. The machinery
builders at first thought this was im
practical but after a few years came out
with 4-bank condensers which became
standard throughout the country.
