Mrs. Stephens Named Reporter For Karastan Mary Stephens, payroll clerk in the Karastan Weave Room, has been ap pointed the Mill Whistle reporter for the Karastan Rug Mill. Karastan em ployees are invited to pass on to Mrs. Stephens any news items and pictures. Mrs. Stephens succeeds F ra n c e s Watson who served several years as the reporter at Karas tan. Mrs. Watson r e c ently resigned from the Company to accept a position with the Army Air Corps in the Penta gon at Washington, D. C. A native of Leaksville, Mrs. Stephens is the daughter of Mrs. J. E. Warren and the late Dr. Warren. She graduated from Leaksville high school and com pleted a post graduate commercial course there. She formerly was em ployed at our General Office in the Sales Audit Dept. She has been at Kar astan for the past three years. She is the wife of Robert L. Stephens, meter superintendent at Duke Power Company. They have one son, 10, and a daughter four years ago. They live in Oakland Heights, Leaksville. Mrs. Stephens Freya Jentschura Is Freshman At U. Of Penn. Freya Jentschura, 17-year-old daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jentschura, has enrolled as a freshman at the Uni versity of Pennsylvania where she holds a four-year scholarship. A talented artist, Freya won first prize in the art contest conducted by the Philadelphia Orchestra’s C o n- certs for Youth. Freya’s father has been a member of the Karastan De signing Dept, since 19‘?3. Freya has visited in Leaks ville at various times in the past. Miss Jentschura Group Insurance Premiums Waived Group insurance premiums are being Waived fcr several weeks due to favor able experience for the year. No group insurance premiums will be deducted for weeks ending November 26, Decem ber 3, 10, 17, 24 31, 1950, and January 7, 1951. J. J. Dodson Completes 45 Years With Company Picture above shows John J. Dodson of the Blanket Mill as he received con gratulations upon his completion of 45 years with the Company. At left is J. H. Ripple, manager of the Blanket and Sheeting Mills. Harold W. Whitcomb, assistant general manager, who visited Mr. Dodson on the job to congratulate him and to present a box of candy and other remembrances, is shown at right. Mr. Dodson has an outstanding record in that he “has never been off the pay roll” since he first went to work No vember 18, 1905. Before joining the Blanket Mill, he. had worked for a year at the Nantucket Card Room at Spray. His first work at the Blanket Mill was in the opening room and later in the Cotton Carding Dept, where he was a fixer and grinder for several years. Transferring to the Blanket Weave Room, he was a weaver for several years, and after that he was a loom- fixer for a Icng time. Most recently his classification has been shuttle machine orerato" and loomfixer. Red Cross Chapter Sends 25 Gift Packages Learning is like rowing upstream: not to advance is to drop back. MONDAY, DECEMBER 4, 1950 Volunteer Red Cross workers from the Leaksville-Spray-Draper chapter are shown as they wrapped Christmas packages to be sent to service men who will be on the high seas on Christmas Day.
