Four Receive Awards For 40-Year Records PEARL. S. REED JAMES IVAN HUBBARD HILLERY X. PICKRELL Four employees in four different mills have recently completed records of 40 years of continuous service. Pearl S. Reed, Sheeting Mill, com pleted 40 years October 2. James Ivan Hubbard, Bleachery, and Hillery T. Pickrell, Sheet Finishing Mill, both com pleted 40-year records October 5. J. Prank Hutson, Blanket Mill, attained 40 years of continuous service October 10. The veteran employees were congrat ulated in informal ceremonies on the respective anniversary dates. Each was presented with the Fieldcrest diamond- and-gold 40-year service emblem, a gift, 3nd a letter of commendation from Pres ident Harold W. Whitcomb. Mrs. Reed, a native of Henry Coun ty, Va„ was employed as a weaver Oc tober 2, 1922, and has continued to work 3s a weaver to the present time. Support the Tri-City Community Fund GIVE A DAY’S PAY rick County, Va., was employed in the Cloth Finishing Department at the Bleachery October 5, 1922. He has work ed in the same department during all of his years with the company. He was first employed as a helper, but shortly afterward became a calender operator and continues in that classification. Mr. Pickrell is also a Patrick County native and first was employed at the Bleachery October 5, 1922. He has work ed as production scheduler, sheet coun ter, sheet spreader and cutter, pack aging machine operator and yardage and board rolling machine operator. He is now a Monfort cutting machine op erator at the Sheet Finishing Mill. Mr. Hutson, a picker fixer, was born in Rockingham County and first joined the Blanket Mill as a fixer in the Cot ton Carding Department October 10, 1922. He has been a section hand or picker fixer during virtually all of his 40 years with the company . J. FRANK HUTSON Prizes And Awards Offered In Mill Campaign Employees who pledge a day’s pay and departments in which 100 per cent of the employees pledge a day’s pay in the Tri-City Community Fund cam paign will be eligible for valuable prizes to be awarded through drawings. In addition plaques, certificates and other honors will be given departments with 100 per cent participation on a day’s pay basis. An honor roll will be posted daily in each mill department listing the names of the department’s employees who have pledged a day’s pay. The President’s Plaque is to be given by President Harold W. Whitcomb to the mill which has the highest per centage of employees giving a day’s pay. The plaque will be held for a year by that mill and will rotate to next year’s winner. The staff department having the highest percentage of “day’s pay givers” will receive a similar plaque. Certificates of Merit will be presented by the Tri-City Community Fund to each mill department and staff unit in which all employees pledge a day’s pay. Each mill and the staff group will have a drawing from among the em ployees who pledge a day’s pay; the win ner will have a choice of a “Fashions of the World” bedspread, a single or dual control Gold Crown automatic blanket, or a Karastan Happiness rug. The names of all employees—mill and staff—who pledge a day’s pay will be thrown into one final drawing for a grand prize of a beautiful 9x12 Am- arapura rug, which retails for $250.00. These prizes are gifts of Fieldcrest Mills, Inc., and are not taken from cam paign funds. Monday, october, 22, 1962
