Patterson Wins ‘Current Affairs’ Contest Steve Patterson, a former resident of Eden and son of Mr. and Mrs. James B. Patterson, has been' chosen winner of the annual Current Affairs contest conducted by Time Magazine. The Pattersons now live in Grifton, N. C., where Steve, 17, is a senior in high school. He was top scorer in the contest among the students at Grifton High School. Before moving to Grifton, Steve at tended the special class for advanced students at Central Elementary School in Eden for three years, and was an honor roll student and glee club mem ber at Morehead High School. At Grifton High School, Steve became a member of the Beta Club, the French Club and was on the basketball and baseball teams. He also played offensive and defensive quarterback for the Bull dogs at Grifton. He has been on the honor roll and the Principal’s List each marking period. His non-scholastic interests include playing the guitar with a combo, read ing, swimming, hunting and bowling. He plans to further his education in science research. Steve’s mother, the former Maureen Smart, worked in the Accounting De partment at General Offices before mov ing to Grifton. Steve’s grandmother, Mrs. Leona Smart, works in the Blanket Mill Weave Room. Amanda Rae Land Amanda Rae Land, pictured here at six months, is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Land of 710 Ce dar St., Eden. Mrs. Land (Carolyn) works in the Produc- tion Control Depart- ^' ment at the Karastan f" Rug Mill. Amanda is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray mond W. Land and Mr. and Mrs. James F. Belton. Mrs. Land works in the Bedspread Mill Spinning Department, and Mr. Belton works in the Blanket Mill Wool Card Room. ■ i Connie Fuller Connie Francis Fuller, who was five years old on Febru ary 10, is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin J. Fuller. Mr. Fuller works at the Karastan Rug Mill. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Andrew J. Fuller and Mr. and Mrs. Major M. Church. Mr. Fuller works in the Blanket Mill Wool Card Room, and Mr. Church works in the Blanket Finishing Mill. M. A. Broughton High School in Ralei^ and presently is a candidate for an degree in history at East Carolina U'’*' versity. He is married to the forP'® Rebecca Ann Davis of Winston-Sal®'” and has a son, Patrick Arrington, 3^® 18 months. Debbie Williams MRS. WILLIAM KNAPIK Miss Murray, Mr. Knapik Exchange Wedding Vows Mary Bernadette Murray, who is em ployed at the Cleveland Service Center, recently became the bride of James W. Knapik of Parma, Ohio. The noon Mass was held at St. Pius X Church, with the Mass being celebrated by the bride’s uncles, the Rev. Edward Tulley and the Rev. Walter Tully. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard R. Murray, and the bride groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam J. Knapik. The couple took a honeymoon trip to New York and are now living in Parma where Mr. Knapik teaches at St. An thony of Padua. The bride, who joined Fieldcrest in March, 1965, is continuing her job as secretary to Randolph John ston, the regional sales manager. Debbie Williams celebrated her fifth birthday on February 24. She is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Williams. Mr. Williams works at the Karastan Rug Mill. Debbie’s grand- mother, Mrs. Nannie Gallimore, formerly worked for Fieldcrest.
