About 43 companies participated in the two-day exhibit. The top picture is an exhibit which the Columbus Towel Mill, Columbus, Ga., erected at the Columbus Square Shopping Mall for Industry Appreciation Days, sponsored by the Merchant’s As sociation. Eight other textile firms, along with other area firms, also had displays at the exhibit. Karastan Spinning donated the ex hibit to the school system to be sent around to all schools to acquaint the children with industry and with Field- crest’s local plant. The display below was made by the Karastan Spinning Mill in Greenville for a Pitt County Industrial Exhibit, Both exhibits drew large crowds. An estimated 2,000 persons saw the Green ville display; the number viewing the Columbus exhibit could not be deter mined with it being located in a crowd ed shopping mall. and Mrs. Andrews made their home, called “Tulip Hill,” into a showplace with thousands of flowers. a rose named “Illinois” state’s sesqicentennial. in honor of the Mr. Andrews became a leading flow er grower and won literally hundreds of prizes at state fairs and in other competitions. He was a leader in proj ects to beautify Decatur and developed He recently was honored by the De catur Rose Society on the group’s 10th anniversary and was presented a life membership in the society in recogni tion of his many contributions to the cause of roses in Decatur. 3
